North Side Sewer Lining Project

The Village of New Lenox is working on a sanitary sewer infrastructure improvement to sewer lines in the area around Cedar Road between RT 30 and Francis Road.

This project will begin the week of March 12, 2018 with sewer televising and cleaning to be done by our contractor, Michels Corporation.  This work should not affect day to day sewer use.  There will be trucks on the roadways while this work is completed.

The week of March 19, 2018, the contractor will begin installing the sewer liner.  The streets where work will take place are listed below:

•    Keithland Ct.
•    W Kimber Dr.
•    Forest St.
•    W Wood St.
•    Cedar Rd.
•    E Wood St.
•    Gum St.
•    N Cooper Rd.
•    Hauser Ct.
•    Inner Ct.
•    Francis Rd.
•    Oak St.

The contractor will notify residents on the streets when work will be taking place.   During this time, we ask that you do not run water for baths, showers, dish washers or washing machines.  However, sinks and toilets can still be used conservatively.   To avoid foul odors, make sure all your drain traps are full of water including your basement floor drain.
This project should be completed by the end of March.

Notification Letters and Door Hangers will be used to notify Residents.

Please contact Public Works with any questions or concerns you may have at 815-215-4800.

Cedar Road Water Main Replacement Project

Latest Update: Click here

The Cedar Road Water Main Replacement Project will replace the water main along Cedar Road between Illinois Highway and Francis Road.  This project includes installation of a new water main, valves and hydrants.  Additionally the project will require driveway, roadway and parkway restoration.

During construction there will be one lane of traffic closed, allowing two way traffic.  There will be intermittent lane closures requiring flaggers when there is one lane of traffic open.

The project will begin at Illinois Highway and progress north.  The project will take place in 4 sections.  First is the area between Illinois Highway and Joliet Highway, second will be the area between Joliet Highway and RT 30, third will be the area between Oak Street and Wood Street and finally the area between Wood Street and Francis Road.

This project is scheduled to begin on or around March 19, 2018 and will be completed by the end of 2018.

Please contact Will Nash in the Engineering Department at 815-462-6490 or wnash@newlenox.net with any questions or concerns you may have.

Construction of the Cedar Road Water Main Replacement was financed by the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This project includes replacement of the existing water main, valves, fire hydrants and public water services on Cedar Road between Illinois Highway and Francis Road. Once complete, it will improve water quality and reliability for area residents and businesses in New Lenox by replacing the existing main and appurtenances, which have reached the end of their useful life. SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.
